Certain controllers, such as ESP PIC's (with an Ethernet port) and Connect Controllers can be registered to an account using the ‘Add New Hardware’ function within the Growlink Mobile App. The steps below go over how to register your controller to your account using this function.
The Add New Hardware function can be found within the settings menu of the Mobile app:
Next, select the Growlink Equipment option in the following page, followed by tapping the ‘Continue to Setup button’:
In the following page, tap the ‘Add new Growlink Controller to my account’ option:
Within the Setup device screen, there are two options, one for WiFi devices and a second option for devices that are connected via an Ethernet cable. In this case, we will select the 'Continue with Barcode' button under the Set Up an Ethernet Device section:
Scan the QR code on the inside of the enclosure of your controller that has an Ethernet Port. Ensure that the controller is currently connected to the desired network via an Ethernet cable connected to the Ethernet Port on the controller, and that the Mobile app has permission to use your camera to scan the QR code. Alternatively, there is an option to manually input the serial number of the controller, which is directly beneath the QR code.
Once input, the controller will be registered to your account and will attempt to communicate to our device cloud over the local network. Once connected, you will receive a success message and will be prompted to name the controller, as well as to setup the initial profile settings for the controller itself:
Controller not connecting
If a controller is not showing any data after being registered to your account via the Ethernet cable, one should check the following common points of failure:
1) Confirm that the Ethernet cable being utilized is providing a network connection
2) Confirm that the controller is showing either a breathing cyan status light or a breathing green status light, indicating that the controller has power and is communicating to our device cloud
3) If the controller is displaying a blinking red status light, the controller is on outdated firmware and would need to have its firmware manually updated. Reach out to Support@growlink.com to receive confirmation of this issue and the next steps in resolving that issue.
